About Us
Introduction:
The Sheffield Mela is not just a festival. It promotes multiculturalism, education, lifestyle, and art. It is run as a Community Interest Company (CIC), officially registered in 2023. The first Sheffield Mela took place on 4 August 2024 in Firth Park, Sheffield, and was a big success, with around 15,000 people attending throughout the day.
Because of this success, the Mela became an annual event held every year on the first Sunday of August. The 2025 Desi Fest Sheffield Mela took place on 3 August 2025 and was even bigger than the previous year, with support from Sheffield City Council, Arts Council England, and the North East LAC. More than 17,000 people attended.
The organisers are now planning city-wide events throughout the year, as well as the main annual Desi Fest Sheffield Mela at Firth Park. The 2026 event will take place on Sunday, 2nd August 2026.
